Athletics
The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics receives no state tax dollars, and is funded through the generosity of its donors, ticket sales, media rights, corporate sponsorships and licensing. Through these revenue steams it is possible to fully fund every athletic program, providing the maximum number of scholarships allowed to each sport under NCAA guidelines. The 2007-08 fiscal year marked the 16th consecutive year that the DIA has operated with a balanced budget.
The recent renovation of Memorial Stadium was accomplished through private giving and the sale of suites. No state funds were used in this renovation project. All of the money raised was for the specific purpose of renovating the stadium and could not be used for other projects.
