Strategic Plan

In January 2006, a strategic plan for the Urbana campus was published, and in the years since, faculty and administrators have worked together to improve upon that plan. The details of this plan can be found on the Campus Strategic Plan Web page.

The Academic Professional Implementation Team Steering Committee charged the Strategic Planning Group to implement the following recommendation from the Academic Professional Task Force Report:

Share the Campus Strategic Plan via presentations specifically targeting academic professionals to gather input and ideas on demonstrating how individuals and units connect to the strategic plan.

The Strategic Planning Group reports that they have fulfilled their initial charge and gathered input and ideas on successfully connecting academic professionals to the Campus Strategic Plan. The group's work included formulating an academic professional profile to help APs better form these connections via a presentation and feedback session. Trial presentations resulted in valuable discussion about the unit and Campus Strategic Plans. Post-presentation survey data indicate that those attending were better able to see themselves in their unit and the Campus Strategic Plan after the presentation. The survey also showed that even if participants did not directly connect to the Campus Strategic Plan, they were able to see the importance of having a strategic plan.

The Strategic Planning Group plans to move forward by continuing to give presentations to interested units and help academic professionals in those units connect with their unit strategic plan and the Campus Strategic Plan. It is only by understanding a strategic plan that we can most efficiently help achieve our goals!
