Urbana Campus


The Chancellor

Under the direction of the president of the university, the chancellor serves as the chief executive officer for the Urbana campus. The chancellor is appointed annually by the board of trustees on the recommendation of the president. Under the chancellor, the Urbana campus also has a provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, a vice chancellor for institutional advancement, a vice chancellor for student affairs, a vice chancellor for research, and a vice chancellor for public engagement.

The Provost

As chief academic officer under the chancellor, the provost serves as chief executive officer in the absence of the chancellor. The provost is appointed annually by the Board of Trustees on recommendation of the chancellor and the president (with the advice of the campus senate). The provost oversees academic and budgetary policy and priorities, ensures the quality of the faculty and student body, and maintains educational excellence. All of the deans and directors of academic units report to the provost.
